Adaptation is the body of work that represents my MFA thesis project. The work is based on a novella titled, The Golem, which is set in Prague in the early 20th century. The story follows a protagonist who suffers from a confused state of identity. The plot takes the reader through many twists and turns as we follow the protagonist in the Jewish ghetto of the ancient city.
My works are a result of nearly 16 months of research into the novella, the exploration of many visual languages and a lot of layers of paint on these canvases that were constructed to serve as ancient exterior walls. The subject matter is ethereal and enigmatic, as it represents the tumult and emotional exhaustion that reflects the very mood of both the protagonist in the literature and the artist who painted these works.
